MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL GAME PARK

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda largest park and it is the only one lying in the Northwestern side of the country, approximately 5 hours’ drive from Kampala. It became a national park in 1952, taking its name from the powerful Murchison Falls best described as Devil’s Cauldron. This 3840sq.kms protected area is bisected by the Victoria Nile that plunges 45m over the remnant rift valley wall forming the roaring Murchison Falls.

Over 76 mammal species and 451 bird species are all confined within Murchison Falls National Park. While on Uganda safari in this park, you should expect to see a huge concentration of African bush elephants, buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes, warthogs, bushbucks, Jackson’s hartebeest, Uganda Kobs, Topis, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards, primates like chimpanzees, olive baboons, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys.

THE POWERFUL MURCHISON FALLS

According to the history of Murchison Falls National Park, when the park was established in 1952, the Game Department enthused, that the main tourist attractions of this park was definitely the unique Murchison Falls after which the pack was named. the waterfall found on the river Nile which presents a theatrical battle between the water and the packed rocks displays a large volume of water powerfully squeezing through narrow 7m crevice in the rocks that plunges over 40 meters below into a 50m radius water pool. The powerful force of the water results into a loud roar and a water spray around the fall. Interestingly a large number of tourists prefer booking accommodation located close to the waterfall so that they can hear its roaring water especially in the quite nights

BULIGI GAME AREA

Buligi game reserve lies on an area of about 160 km between the Victoria Nile and the Albert Nile. The game drive in buligi game reserve can last for 3-4 hours
